‘212 desk’ – Hommage a Pierre Chareau

For the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris, French designer Pierre Chareau exhibited his skills as both furniture designer and architect in his designs for the Bureau-Bibliotheque for the Ambassade Française. The model “MB212” Desk was originally designed for this library.

At one point in my career, I had a chance to work on the restoration of one of the two known pieces of this desk in an ebonized version. I could evaluate by myself the greatness of Pierre Chareau’s design. This project is my interpretation of this piece and an “hommage” to one of the great designers of the past.
